Cunningham Highway Rehabilitation Project | TMR Pavement Stabilisation

Projects

Location:
Cunningham Highway (Warwick-Inglewood)

Client: TMR

Value: $4.87m

Start/Finish Date:
July 2023 – December 2023

Description:
In-situ Stabilisation, Sealing, Traffic Management. TMR approved Brown Contractors’ proposed single-pass stabilisation of the pavement, which resulted in a 10% budget saving. Brown Contractors successfully stabilised approximately 19,000 m² of pavement, reconstructed approximately 14,000 m², and sealed 33,000 m² of damaged pavement along a 48 km stretch of Cunningham Highway. All damaged sections were carefully integrated with the existing pavement to provide a smooth drive for road users.

Scope:

  • Single-pass in-situ pavement stabilisation (approx. 19,000 m²).

  • Pavement reconstruction (approx. 14,000 m²).

  • Sealing of 33,000 m² of damaged pavement.

  • Traffic management due to increased heavy vehicle traffic from local wind farm development.

  • Phased construction, temporary lane diversions, and detailed traffic control measures.

  • Environmental risk assessment and erosion/sediment control plan.

Challenges:

  • Concrete supply logistics and extensive haul distances.

  • Managing cold weather sealing conditions and potential wet weather delays.

  • Complex phased traffic staging, lateral shifts, and diversions.
